FAQ

Walk-in tattoos are more than welcome as long as we have time to do them (which we often do!) Some days are busier than others, therefore we may be fully booked and not have time for your tattoo immediately. We operate on a first come, first served system for walk-ins.

If our artists are busy we will take your contact info and give you a call as soon as we have time available. While you wait we can suggest many cool places for you to check out close by, there is no shortage of cool shops and cafes to visit in this corner of the city!

Our shop minimum is $100
(see the next question for more details)
The short answer is “that depends…”

There are many factors that contribute to the price of a tattoo…
– location on the body
– the size of the tattoo
– complexity and detail of the design
– the time taken to draw and prepare for your tattoo
These are just a few things we consider when determining a price for your tattoo.

Remember that old saying… “You get what you pay for” Well, whether you are getting a small walk-in tattoo or a larger custom piece, we always put in the highest level of care and attention to every tattoo we do.

Yes.

Due to the work invloved in preparing your tattoo and also the fact that we need to set aside time for you, all appointments require a $100 deposit to secure your booking. This can be paid in cash at the shop, or via electronic funds transfer (arranged over email) 24 hours notice is required for all cancellations or the deposit will be forfeit and subsequent appointments may be cancelled.

Of course you can!

If you can’t stop by in person, you can call the shop or email us to arrange an appointment. One of our tattoo artists will then keep in contact with you directly and give you all the info you’ll need about your design / booking a time / leaving a deposit etc.

No, absolutely not.

Victorian law states that you must be 18 years or over to get tattooed. No exceptions!

We recommend that you are well rested, have eaten within four hours of your appointment and are well hydrated. This will help you to relax and make it a better experience for you and your tattoo artist.

Sure it does! But it’s not that bad.

Receiving a tattoo is of course a painful process. It requires the application of ink under the epidermal layer of the skin, which is achieved by thousands of tiny pin pricks.

But take a second to look around and ask yourself… “Could there really be so many tattooed people in the world if it hurt THAT badly?” The answer of course is “No!”. Larger tattoos will hurt more than smaller ones, and different parts of the body have different sensitivites. But it’s all part of the experience of getting your first tattoo, remember: “No Pain, No Gain!”

Yes, this is definitely something we can help you with.

For this kind of work, we will need you to come by the shop in person before booking your tattoo appointment, as we will need to see the existing tattoo in-the-flesh to best determine your options. Feel free to arrange a consultation by email or phone.

No, at Heart & Soul we live and breathe tattoos!

We must respectfully insist that you do not bring your infants or children to your appointment.

A tattoo is a permanent artistic expression, and our artists need complete concentration to ensure it comes out perfectly for you. We have many people working in the studio who need to focus and we also want you and the other customers to be relaxed and without distraction while receiving your tattoos.

When booking your consultation or tattoo, please arrange a time to come in when you’re free from the little ones!

It certainly is!

We have regular inspections by the City of Melbourne Health Department, and we have their full approval to operate. We use single-use, disposable needles and tubes for every customer, and follow the strict protocol required for tattoo studios.
